Santa Fe Opera
I have spent two seasons with the Santa Fe Opera, a world-renowned Opera house that builds 3 shows from scratch along with providing a stage to 2 more in order to contribute to the living art form.
The summer of 2024 I spent my time being their apprentice touch-up artist where my responsibilities were to learn as much as I could about the process from start to finish of every set going on stage, fixing broken parts and repainting them, finishing touch-up jobs within short time constraints, and helping the staff finish painting sets before they opened. During this season I helped create "Don Giovanni", "The Righteous", and "La Traviata".
In the season of 2025, I was given a staff position and tasked with the responsibility of leading, sometimes creating, and performing the process of painting multiple parts of sets. Due to the fact that I had worked here previously, my role became more important as I sometimes was the middleman between the Charge and the rest of the crew. We cycled which staff member led the many different projects for each set, dividing up who mixed the textures and the paints, who worked with the charge to learn the initial steps in the paint treatment, and who was on each team for each project. I also was tasked with helping the new touch-up apprentice learn their responsibilities. During this season I worked on "La Boheme", "Turn of the Screw", and "Die Walkure".
